On a survey of entries last year, it was shown that many participants would welcome a higher percentage of technical sections. The forestry commission do have plans to make additional links and extra tracks on the Tarw trail, but these will not be in place prior to this event.

However, the course has been amended using existing Tarw features to increase the percentage of single track. This will bring in “Flightpath”, “Heart of darkness”, and “Snap & crackle”

Many thanks to Arran Cartwright for measuring the revised course by GPS. The overall length has been reduced slightly to 45k but is more challenging.
( For relay riders 15k if you are doing 1 lap, 30k if doing two ).

After a short uphill stint from the start, “Flightpath” will take you down to lowest part of course where you start the R74 in reverse. If you are at CYB before this event please note that this section must NOT BE PRACTICED IN REVERSE for obvious reasons. Anyone found to be flouting this rule will be banned from the event.

From near the end of R74 there is a long ascent bringing you to the extra single track sections included this year – Heart of darkness, snap and crackle before rejoining last years route from “Pop” onwards.

Course Profile

The inclusion of “Flightpath “ followed immediately by the “R74” gives the course two technical sections early in the lap. For this reason we will be introducing a priority start for “GOLDRUSH” elite riders to minimize bunching early in the event. Riders who took part in previous Goldrush events and were in the first 20 finishers ( i.e under 3hr for the 3 laps ) will be automatically placed in this section.

Riders who have NOT previously entered a Goldrush event and who consider that they would come in this category can self certify themselves on the entry form and will be included in the second wave of riders . It is expected times will be slightly longer this year with the additional percentage of technical sections.

COURSE ETIQUETTE
As a matter of course etiquette we would again ask all competitors to be aware of much faster competitors and allow them through ASAP.
