The rules to the race.

  • Competitors must exercise sound, mature judgment, taking responsibility for their own and other's safety, carry out all instructions from race officials , check the rules and the routes involved.
  • Competitors must conduct themselves in a proper manner, respect all others and not bring the sport into disrepute, including threatening, abusive behaviour This will result in instant Disqualification.
  • Race number must be attached to bike. Marshals will request anyone not displaying their race number to leave the trail.
  • Competitors must be adequately clothed at all times.
  • Competitors may not receive any outside assistance other than that provided by the race marshals. However, if a competitor is in difficulties, other competitors may offer assistance. Marshals will be in contact with medical centre.

Cycle Conduct 

  • Every competitor must ensure that his or her cycle is in a safe and roadworthy condition. Handlebars and bar ends must be plugged.
  • Any part of the cycle course may be covered on foot but on these occasions the competitors must carry or push their own machines, and not hinder other competitors. ( One section on R74 this will probably be necessary )
  • Helmets must be fastened before the competitor starts and must remain fastened until the rider has completed the course. Failure to adhere to this will result in disqualification.
  • Competitors may only be penalized by readily identifiable race marshals. Penalties may be issued or disqualifications given at any time up to the announcement of the final results
  • Ettiquette. If on single track, give way when safe to do so to any competitor shouting “coming through” DO NOT shout this if you not an appreciably faster rider. !!

The following offences may result in disqualification from the event.

a. Threatening, abusive or insulting words or conduct
b. Breaking road traffic regulations
c. Dangerous conduct/riding
e. Failing to obey marshals .
f. Outside assistance
g Tampering with the equipment of others
h.Unsporting impedance
i. Course irregularities (unless the competitor returns to the point at which he or she left the course, or a point on the course prior to it, and then completes the course)
Do not be put off by these as they are only put in place for your protection. Just enjoy the race!!



INFORMATION FOR GOLDRUSH COMPETITORS

Parking:
Strictly no parking west of A470. Park in the event car park East of A470 ( follow signs ). Pay meters in operation cost £3.00 per day.

Disabled Parking :
enquire at Registration point.

Refreshment:
Available at Forest centre and in start finish arena. (mobile provision)

Toilets:
Toilets in Forest centre open until 5p.m. on Sat & 6.p.m.Sunday. Portable Loos available for competitors at Start finish arena and for spectators- at Maesgwm centre (Nr start finish arena) see map

Showers & Changing rooms:
Available at Forest Centre – open until 6p.m Sat & 6p.m. on Sunday. Showers are on prepayment meters. ( £1.00)

Registration:
Saturday Noon to 4.p.m.. Sunday 8.00 a.m to 9.30a.m. Race numbers and timing chips issued at registration. If you need Kit / Drinks/Food taken over to race site- bags will be available at Registration which will be tagged and can be taken across by Mini Bus and collected again at Kit Tent. See Map.

Gold strike claim:
Your chance to claim the £100.00 -At registration.

Prizegiving:
Forest centre 3.30p.m Sunday.

Spectators:
Use frequent free shuttle bus from centre to race area. Use bus stop in centre car park Shuttle by Celtic Mini bus hire. Ignore Arriva buses !!.

Bus Transfer:
As per spectators above.

Spares/drinks:
Competitors can move equipment, drinks etc over to Race area Kit Tent by shuttle bus, Kit tent Manned at start finish area—see map. Drinks for taking during race, pick up are next to kit tent.

First Aid:
Provided by Manchester Medical Services for competitors. Base at start/ finish area. See map.

Spectators:
any accidents report to Forest centre. ( assessment by MMS at start/finish area if on courseBike Cleaning: Available at Forest Centre ( 50p ) Tokens from Beics Brenin

Bike Repair:
Available at Beics Brenin, Forest Centre.

Route to Start:
Competitors ( on bikes ) should follow signed designated route via forest road ( see map marked + - - + - - + )and path under main road. Spectators and supporters not on bikes use shuttle buses.

Race numbers:
See registration. RETURN timing chips by race HQ IMMEDIATELY after finishing please.

Accidents:
All accidents must be reported to race control. ( As FCW need to be informed within 24hrs.) Personal data may be used in case of accident. Be aware that Marshall vehicles may be on the course to reach the nearest accessible point to an injured rider.

Helmets:
MUST be worn and fastened before riders cross start mat.

Timing Chips:
MUST be worn on ankle

Event cut off time:
No rider will be allowed to start a lap after 3p.m.

Race HQ, Info:
Near Refreshment area (see map)

NB: In event of non finishing please report this fact to race HQ and ensure you hand in your timing chip. Otherwise we will be looking for you on the course !!

NB. In 2009 event a dog was seen following one rider. Dogs are not allowed on the course for safety and insurance reasons. Any competitor contravening this will be immediately disqualified and banned from future events)
